Fearful people are the most imaginative people…

I was talking to my son, he is very scared of going into dark places alone.. i was telling him everyone is friend of human beings, so why is he is scared? He said: I feel that suddenly there will be a shark in bathroom, shark in bathroom really 🙂 it was hilarous.

He is one of the most imaginative kid i have seen, very observant and observe things very carefully and imbibes it. He almost sees shark when he imagines..

Fearfull people are most imaginative once for sure……

Why almost all IT persons want to do a startup?

Why almost all IT persons want to do a startup and nobody tries it?

This seems more like Quora question let me try and answer it here.

So you have been in IT for past some years ( Varying from 3 yrs to 10+ yrs) and are visiting couple of college friends or colleagues, whats the discussion like girls/travel or starting a IT startup and get big bucks..

I bet startup is one of the main discussion point and everyone seems to have unique ideas that can be converted into million bucks Ah! if we had some money or time we would done it for sure!

It seems the main reason to do a startup is to get crazily rich in much shorter time, and hence everyone gets attracted to it. Grass always seems greener on other side, so when u r in job, it seems the owner of ur company has such an easy job running the company….

Why nobody tries it?

Not a right time and never will be, abhi to muskil hai yaar. Have to pay my new apartment EMIs, buy a car, or getting married thousands of excuses comes in mind.

Is it mainly money constraints or fear factor…

Let me know what u think?

Startup steps…

3 steps to grow an startup:

1) Product match with market : Build a product that match or solves something in market.

2) Scale : Get as many users as possible for that product.

3) Monetize: Monetize with help from users…

Simple huh 🙂

Pursuit of Happyness…

Father to son:

Dont Ever let Someone Tell You That Yon Cant Do Something. Not Even Me. You Got A Dream, You Gotta Protect it.

When People Can’t Do Something Themselves, They’re Gonna Tell You That You Can’t Do It.

You Want Something Go Get it. Period !!

My first experience of voting….

Today we went for voting. The process is to get a serial no. thru which you identify your polling booth and its location. Go there and vote Simple huh!…

First getting the serial no. Nothing is more complex than getting the serial no. you need to get a small chit that has the serial no; Our Apartment community security and system has completed goofed it up, for searching your name it would take one day….

So we directly went to nearest Poll booth assuming our names present there. A set of volunteers where helping get serial no. We got our numbers at last but wrong names in the chit they suggested its fine you can vote even if your names are wrong, fine we went inside (We had to vote today!). After waiting for half an hour reached the poll counter and got rejected, based on our vote numbers our names was not present.

Again as mentioned we cannot give up….We came out couple of folks from our apartment had a pdf document that provides you proper serial no. We got our second serial no. of the day. Ours was in different poll booth location, we quickly went there, again volunteers search the name and serial no. basis but failure again.

At last one guy got site ceokarnataka.nic.in and search the svf voter number and got serial no., this was final try we went based on that serial no. and yuppee! was able to vote with that at last.

It was like finally winning the battle with the system who does not want us to vote !!

Keep voting folks this time we have to fight back!!! And best way to do is do Vote Jai hind!….

Failure is critical to success…

Why is failure critical to success, small insight i got when my son almost 5 now started learning skates. He is pretty smart and his balance and rolling is very good. But one of things in skates is to paddle very fast so that you can roll faster. He is really slow in that, why? because he is scared of falling down so to maintain balance he paddles slow and rolls slowly.

Crux is unless he paddles faster and rolls faster he will not learn, but in this process he will had to fall many times and get used to falling. Hence skill set here does not count even if your balance is good it does not count. What counts is failure and falling, more you fall, more you get used to and your confidence will go up, allowing you to learn and success much faster…..

I think that is true in all fields of our life……

How to control fear/anxiety?

Is fear / anxiety good or bad?

Imagine your moment of stage fear just before going into the podium was it really helpful that you were almost about to cry and run because of fear of failure. I do not think so, i once remember i literally cried after my first hindi poem recite and still have the stage fear before going into any bigger meetings or presentations.

The other kind of fear is what i call boss fear

So why is this fear – there are tons of explanation for this and goes very long history etc, so instead of dwelling on it lets move to more interesting question…

How can we control it?

By practice/Be Prepared:

I think the best way to defy fear is practice, its like you become so habitual in the tasks that it does not require second thought. It comes to you naturally and your self confidence becomes very high in that task.

What worst could happen:

Think of what worst could happen and work backward, for example if you are have a PPT presentation for a critical meeting, visualize what worst could happen, you will get rejected or you will get ridiculed etc. And be prepared for that, this is like facing fear beforehand and being ready for it.

Financial backup:

At very core levels, lot of things we do is financial security, for example if you get fired from job or do not get that salary hike, what will happen? Because of this we sometimes give in submissively, which is not always bad but it can really hurt if we are in that zone always. Cut down your financial needs or plan ahead, invest or cut down your expenditures. We feel much better if lets say we next 2 years of financial needs in our bank? right ?

Humility:

Many a times we get hooked with our position/status/power, we tend to keep on working towards getting more and more, bigger ranks, bigger offices, more people reporting, basically being ambitious. This is really good and keeps us very competitive, but not at the costs of being anxiety/fear? . Humility or humbleness helps to look at it from different prospective, helps to look at larger picture in our life and overall in the context we work. This does mean we does not have to be competitive or give in but means that understand the context and be ready for it.

Larger picture:

This ties in with Humility and Worst case preparation. Ask yourself what will happen if we fail now, in say next 2 yrs what will happen, were we will be ? Where I want to go? Is it money or home or what exactly i like?

Off course each individual is different and can apply any of the above. But overall just imagine how much more we can achieve if we can control our fear/anxiety ?
